Infinite Pt. 2: Complex Paradox

Staring. You're staring. At her. Look at her. Oh wait, I am, is all he can think. Paradox spent most of his life with just his grandfather, so it's not like he's the smoothest. Although there was that one time... but he knows how that bs ended. But, he thinks, gramps was great with the ladies. maybe i have some of his...charm? Just as he begins to doubt himself more, she walks over towards him. Pupils dilate, thoughts race. She's in a tight dark orange shirt, black leggings and pink running shoes. Her hair was almost bronze and gold, and she had this look. The look that really screamed "optimism", "belief", hope. A hope that shone a bright light into his core. She had on a name tag too. Gabriela. It made sense. More sense than anything. "Hey, can i ask you a few questions?" Think fast. Be clever, gramps was always clever. "Only if there's a reward after them." A frown formed on her face. Damn I'm bombing, he thought. "Sorry, its nothing like that. Nevermind" she said and then began to turn."WAIT!" he said, probably a little too loud. She turned to him and he said "I'm sorry. That was stupid of me. I'll answer anything you ask, just as long as it isn't about my awkward preteen years." She smiled slightly and kinda giggled. It was, heavily exaggerated, the cutest thing he had ever seen or heard. "Okay, so I work for a group that is aiming to make people smarter, faster and stronger. But not through any chemicals or anything harmful. Would you be a person interested in becoming better than you are now?" His initial response was to laugh, but he pushed this down. He smiled slightly and looked down, saying "there isn't much I can do to better myself. Unless this also boosts my looks and how i talk to girls" Too much was said again. Not as clever as the old man was, he made this so much easier. Then it happened. She laughed. And with that laugh he thought he could trust this girl with anything. "Well," she started saying, "thank you anyway." He nodded, and then realized this meant she was leaving, and so the smile he had while talking to her faded. And he knew it was back to his grim reality. She looked at him with the same bronze colored eyes as her beautiful hair. Her bright eyes and his dark eyes met, and in that moment, he could have sworn she knew exactly what had happened to him throughout his entire life. And she wanted to help. "so," she said, "what reward do you want??" He blinked. "wait, I get to decide?" She smiled and nodded her head yes. He thought. He really did. And then, it came to him. "I wanna take you somewhere." She smiled and said "okay, I get off in 15 minutes." "Time won't be an issue, trust me", he said just realizing how creepy and brooding he sounded. But her optimism didn't leave her eyes. "Okay", she said. "So what are we gonna do?" Paradox blushed a bit and said " uh..well.. I need you to lock arms with me." She smiled harder and laughed and grabbed his arm. "Show me something great, okay?" she asked of him. "Alright", he said. "Don't blink". And in a flash, they were gone. She didn't recognize it at first, but then it all registered to her. They were atop a hill, staring at a full moon. "Where-how- it was just the afternoon in the middle of downtown. How are we-" she starts rambling. "Shh," Paradox says to her. "You're gonna miss the best part" he says as he points to the sky. As she turns around, she sees the first star come gliding past the moon. And then in clusters, the stars begin falling from the sky all around them. Meteor by meteor, the sky is lit up by the full moon and the blaze surrounding the shooting stars. Gabriela is astonished, feeling a full body sensation. Almost out of body. "It's... beautiful" she breathes out. "Like the sky is light years away." She spins to him and says "but that's not possible. The last time there was a full moon and a meteor shower was-" "December 17, 2013. Less than a year ago, actually. Not that hard to get to," Paradox says without looking away from the sky. She moves closer. Close enough that her heavy breath is hitting his chest. "I only met you... and yet i feel like I've known you for years. I feel...connected," she says as she slowly touches his arm. He looks down into her amazing eyes, heart thumping.  Wait, what am I supposed to do in this situation he thinks to himself. Then, as if his granddad whispered it into his ear from beyond the grave, he grabs her and kisses her deep and long. And then...they warp away.
